ScanControl Version 4.2.0 and Higher Now Supports Latest PRO-2052 Firmware If you purchased a PRO-2052 recently you may want to verify what version of firmware you have in the unit. You can do this by examining the date code sticker located on the back of the radio. A small, silver sticker will have a 5 digit code like 04A03 or 01A99 telling you the month and year of manufacture. The first two digits are the month and the last two are the year. The reason this is important is the newer firmware, the grapevine says newer being later than the 04A03 date, has newer features such as scanning multiple trunked banks simultaneously and scanning trunked and conventional channels in the same bank. The older firmware did not allow for these features. There may even be more "goodies" in the newer firmware than these. The other reason this is important is the newer firmware also changes the PC Control interface behavior. So, if you are using a software program that isn't aware of the differences you might wind up with a mismatch: software that only works with the older firmware or software that only works with the newer firmware. ScanControl Version 4.2.0 and higher supports both the older and the newer firmware in the PRO-2052. If you are using a version of ScanControl earlier than Version 4.2.0 you may be experiencing loading and programming problems due to this firmware difference.
